Soft & Silk Wedding Veils
Indulge in the effortless grace of my Soft, Silk & Silk-style Wedding Veils collection. Hand-crafted for the bride who wants to feel like she’s walking through a dream, these veils prioritise fluidity, movement and a petal-soft feel. From the liquid-like drape of pure French silk tulle and the buttery finish of my Italian silk-style tulle, to the weightless luxury of my soft English tulles, each piece is designed to fall softly against your gown without ever masking its beauty.
Styling Tips
Match the Sheerness to the Back Detail: Soft silk and silk-style veils can be a touch more opaque than nylon/illusion tulles.
Intricate Details: If your dress has stunning lacework on the back or buttons down the spine, a single tier veil in soft tulle could be perfect. It's more translucent, so your dress details shine through.
Minimalist Gowns: For a sleek, modern dress, a silk or silk-style veil adds a rich, creamy texture that complements the "weight" of the dress fabric perfectly.
The "Body-Skimming" Rule: Unlike traditional, more structured veils that stand away from the body, soft veils act like a cape. They follow the silhouette of your shoulders and hips, falling straight downwards without flaring out.
Dress Types: Soft tulles are ideal for Sheath or Mermaid gowns. However, if you've chosen an opulent Ballgown style, a soft veil might get "lost" in the skirt. In this case, choosing a longer veil length and a fuller (wider) veil width than your dress is a good idea, so the veil extends beyond the dress's volume.
Hair Placement Matters
Since these fabrics are a little heavier and "drop" straight down, where they are secured changes everything:
Boho & Relaxed: You might like to attach your veil underneath a low bun or at the nape of the neck. This emphasizes the "liquid" flow of the silk and silk-style tulle.
Traditional: Securing at the crown gives a bit more height, and looks absolutely stunning, especially on a wider veil comb like my 12cm width comb. Silk and silk-style fabric drapes forwards beautifully around the shoulders and arms.
Dress Embellishments & Soft Tulles
Be aware that if your wedding gown is embellished with claw-set stones, my very drapey, soft tulles may "catch" on the settings around these stones. In this case, a slightly more structured tulle is the best choice for your veil, so it skims over your dress without catching on it.
Managing the "Wind Factor"
Soft veils are incredibly light-reactive. In photos, they catch the wind like a sail, rather than staying rigid. Let your veil "do its thing" during outdoor ceremonies. The beauty of these fabrics is in their movement, not their perfection.
