Draped Wedding Veils
Discover the effortless elegance of the Draped Wedding Veil. Unlike traditional veils that gather at a single point, my draped styles attach at two points - usually via discreet gold, silver or rose gold combs or tiny clips - to create a beautiful, soft sweep across the back.
This silhouette is the ultimate choice for the bride who wants the romance of a veil without concealing her hairstyle or the delicate detailing of her dress.
Love a particular style, but prefer a bridal cape? Most of my designs can be reimagined as shoulder-draped pieces - simply send me a message to explore the possibilities.
The Aesthetic
Cowl Silhouette: The fabric falls in a gentle, rhythmic curve, mimicking the sophisticated drape of a silk gown.
Hairstyle Harmony: Perfect for showing off low buns, intricate braids, or flowing waves, as the veil frames your hair rather than covering it.
Artisan Attachments: Available with classic metal combs, clips, grips or hair pins.
Versatile Lengths: From delicate waist-grazing drapes, to dramatic floor-length sweeps that move fluidly as you walk.
Styling Your Draped Veil: A Practical Guide
The beauty of a draped veil is its versatility. Because it attaches at two points, you can adjust the "dip" of the drape to perfectly frame your bridal look.
- The Perfect Placement
For the Low Bun: Position the two combs just above the ears and tuck them into the hair so the drape sits right below your chignon. This highlights the detail of your up-do while the tulle flows elegantly over your shoulders.
For Loose Waves: If wearing your hair down, secure the combs slightly higher and further forward. I recommend using a few hidden hair grips to provide extra "anchor" points for the combs to grip into.
- Matching Your Hair Type
Fine Hair: If your hair is very silk-smooth or fine, try backcombing a tiny section where the combs will sit, or use a touch of dry shampoo. This gives the metal combs something to "bite" into, for all-day security.
Thick or Textured Hair: Your hair has natural grip! You can experiment with a "deep" drape (letting the fabric hang lower) or a "shallow" drape (placing the combs further apart for a wider, flatter look).
- Embellished Attachment
Many of my draped veils can be customised with embellishments at the anchor points where the veil attaches to your hair. This is a beautiful way to incorporate a touch of sparkle directly into your veil, without needing an additional headpiece or hair accessories.
Pro Tip for the Morning of the Wedding
Always attach your draped veil after your hairspray has completely dried. The chemicals in some hairsprays can cause the fine tulle to become "tacky" over time.
